Gary Bateman is the new Managing Director of Lapp India Pvt. Ltd. As the Managing Director, Gary Bateman is responsible for spearheading and enhancing organizational and operational efficiency by leveraging his extensive cross-functional experience. He is in charge of fostering a global mindset to create vision and building business processes to address the local market by understanding and managing cultural differences and cultural dynamics.
A business and technical graduate with over twenty years of global experience, Gary comes with a thorough knowledge in wire and cable, telecoms, life science, semiconductor, and petrochemical industries. Gary comes with in-depth experience of global executive management expertise in functional areas of sales and marketing, operations, business development, finance, human resources, and strategic planning in developed and developing markets in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Before joining Lapp India, he was CEO of Cirebelle South Africa. He led all activities, with full profitability, balance sheet and cash flow responsibility in the personal care, polymer compounding, green detergents and aggrotech market segments, across all functional areas. Gary developed and implemented a cross-functional strategy for Corning Cable Systems business interests in China. He was also responsible for developing a strategic plan for two optical cable joint ventures to improve financial performance. He simultaneously came up with a regional business development and manufacturing strategy for optical hardware to support corporate strategic growth initiatives in legacy networks, private networks, and fiber-to-home applications.
He held a senior leadership role for General Cable, an American multinational cable manufacturing company based in Kentucky.
Gary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Marketing from the University of Cape Town
