Cisco Announces New Strategic Initiatives for Digital Rajasthan Vision

Cisco to collaborate with Government of Rajasthan to boost Girls in ICT in the state Expansion of Jaipur Lighthouse City program

Cisco announced a series of strategic initiatives under its Jaipur Lighthouse City program initiative to help accelerate the digital transformation of Rajasthan. The announcement is the latest in a series of initiatives to accelerate the digital transformation of Rajasthan.

A digitized state aims to drive GDP growth, create jobs and foster innovation, enhance research and education, stimulate entrepreneurship, accelerate business innovation, develop economic cluster initiatives, and support infrastructure. Towards that end, Cisco and the Government of Rajasthan (GoR) have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to roll-out digital classrooms in women colleges to support and advance women working in the technology sector and expansion of Jaipur lighthouse program to include Smart water for water management.

The SoI between Cisco and GoR was signed today in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Government dignitaries, Cisco Executive Chairman, John Chambers and Cisco India and SAARC President, Dinesh Malkani.

Digital Classrooms to empower women students

As part of Cisco’s commitment to accelerate Digital Rajasthan and support the government’s vision of enabling one woman e-literate in every household, Cisco announced video enabled digital classrooms in women colleges, to cover 10,000 women students over one year, both in rural and urban areas in the state. The digital classrooms will facilitate training and development of IT skills for Women and enable them for the digital era as well as build the state’s pool of highly skilled technology professionals.

As part of its Connected Learning initiative, Cisco in collaboration with the State Institute of Education Management And Training (SIEMAT) has deployed virtual classrooms across 12 institutes in Rajasthan to provide 50,000 person hours of training through digital classrooms.

Jaipur, as a Cisco Lighthouse City has collaborated with Cisco on a number of key initiatives aimed at advancing Jaipur’s vision of becoming a global model and standard for sustainable urban digitization and development. In the first phase of the Lighthouse City program – Smart Lighting, Connected Transportation, Waste Management and Control Center will be all integrated on the Cisco Smart+Connected Digital Platform.

Cisco will also collaborate with the government in its efforts in water resource management. Cisco’s Water Management solutions offer near real-time visibility across the state’s water assets through Internet of Things (IoT) water sensors that transmit information on water levels and flows.

The Network Operations Center at Jaipur Development Authority will have a single view of all data generated by Cisco Smart + Connected Digital Platform to manage the city with increased operational efficiency and productivity, enabling the government to provide quality infrastructure and services to citizens and tourists.
