The Bengaluru-built accounting firm adds around 100 employees, expands beyond venture-backed startups and scales its technology-led bookkeeping, tax and compliance services across the US market.
Inkle, the AI-powered US CPA and bookkeeping firm headquartered in San Francisco with a major technology hub in Bengaluru, has acquired the bookkeeping division of Finally, a financial operations platform serving small businesses. The all-cash asset purchase expands Inkle’s reach into traditional US small businesses, including clinics, restaurants, contractors and professional services firms.
Approximately 100 employees from Finally’s bookkeeping division will join Inkle, taking its workforce to around 160 people across five countries: the United States, India, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Puerto Rico. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 2022 by Anand Krishna and Ranvir Singh, Inkle combines a US-licensed accounting practice with software, product engineering and AI capabilities developed in Bengaluru. Its platform supports bookkeeping, taxation and regulatory compliance, serving businesses operating across US and cross-border markets.
The acquisition marks a strategic shift beyond venture-backed startups, a segment in which Inkle has built its incorporation, tax and compliance services. The expanded business will serve a broader range of small enterprises while enabling Finally’s bookkeeping clients to continue working with their existing teams on Inkle’s platform.
“We’re building the AI-powered Big Four, and this acquisition helps us take that to the businesses that make up most of the American economy.” — Anand Krishna, Co-founder and CEO, Inkle
The deal comes amid concerns over the availability of accounting professionals in the US. Inkle sees technology-led service delivery as a way to address growing demand for accounting and compliance services without relying exclusively on traditional firm structures.
Its Bengaluru team develops Inkle Books, the company’s general ledger, tax and compliance software, and AI capabilities. By working closely with accountants and bookkeepers, engineers can incorporate operational feedback and address issues quickly.
Inkle says it has reached profitability on US$1.5 million in pre-seed funding from Picus Capital, Saison Capital and Force Ventures. Its model combines software with paid AI-supported bookkeeping, tax and compliance services, including support for platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero and Zoho Books.
The acquisition strengthens its capacity to serve customers across the Americas and Asia through round-the-clock operations, while extending its footprint in the US small-business accounting market.
