Major Contribution to IPCEI-CIS Accelerates Europe’s Move to Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure
Leaseweb, a leading cloud services provider, has announced its latest efforts in the EU’s Important Projects of Common European Interest on Cloud Infrastructure and Services (IPCEI-CIS). Through its European Cloud Campus project, Leaseweb is building a sovereign European cloud, reducing reliance on U.S. providers while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Over the past nine months, Leaseweb has developed scalable cloud infrastructure, enhanced automation, and a flexible, multi-tenant system. These advancements position Leaseweb as a key player in Europe’s push for cloud sovereignty.
“We recognize and support the strategic urgency of reducing dependency on foreign infrastructure for critical workloads and sensitive data.” – Robert van der Meulen, Director of Product Strategy at Leaseweb
“As more U.S. companies expand overseas, they need cloud solutions they can trust—not just for performance, but for compliance and control,” said Richard Copeland, CEO of Leaseweb USA.
“For Canadian organizations, Leaseweb’s investment in cloud sovereignty ensures secure, locally compliant infrastructure for international operations,” added Roger Brulotte, CEO of Leaseweb Canada.
Leaseweb’s initiative marks a significant step toward European digital independence, reinforcing the region’s control over its cloud infrastructure.
