Pankaj Gandhi CEO FrogCell Sat Ltd

Current financial results of Frog Cellsat Ltd.the product

For the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2023, Frog Cellsat showcased a steady financial performance. We reported slight growth in our revenues at Rs 136.64 Cr but our profit after tax increased 11% to Rs 15.5 Cr owing to reduced expenses on the cost of materials from Rs. 81Cr in the previous year to Rs 67 Cr for FY ending Mar’23. This reduction in material costs was the result of our focus on optimizing the supply chain, operational efficiencies, and controlling expenses.

Steady momentum and potential growth opportunities (which we’ll talk about below) have seen a warm welcome from the street. Our stock price at the time of FY’23 results declaration was about Rs145, which now stands at an all-time high of >Rs300.

The vision for the upcoming year/three years

Frog Cellsat Ltd is one of the leading manufacturers of RF Equipment headquartered in India. Over the past years, Frog Cellsat has been busy with adding products offering to the portfolio (from a total of 9 to 20+). Now, with our existing product base and our newly constructed company owned 1.6 Lakh sqft state-of-the-art industrial facility at Noida Sec-80, we are all set to catapult from this platform.

We have prepared ourselves for multi-dimensional expansion i.e., deeper and more complex solutions for our strong foothold in the telecom industry and at the same time reach across other industries of defense, automotive, and enterprise. We are also engaged with partners for EMS manufacturing to fully utilize our PLI limits.

Being a listed company, we can’t share many details ahead of time. But what we can share is that now we are attempting ‘big ticket items’ that will drive our revenue numbers with profitability. Many technology partnerships and technology transfer discussions are at a mature stage with reputed companies from the UK, Israel, Singapore, USA, Netherlands, and others.

What would be the new CEO’s role in achieving the vision

I’m very excited to be part of the dynamic and fast-growing organization Frog Cellsat. I have been working on certain customer opportunities in partnership with the senior management of Frog Cellsat. I was much impressed by Frog Cellsat’s talented team, products, solution capabilities, and growth potential. With a ‘Made in India’ vision I decided to embark on this enthralling and promising journey along with Frog Cellsat.

I have been in the telecom industry for 3 decades and I carry vast experience in handling leadership positions at large MNCs like Siemens, CommScope, British Telecom, and ACE Technologies. I bring with me professional knowledge and an extensive international industry network. I believe that with my broader industry read, I will strategically and tactically complement Frog Cellsat’s newer initiative and quest for achieving new heights.

The projects in the pipeline: 5G rollout etc.

As mentioned above, Frog Cellsat is working on multiple growth opportunities. Within the telecom domain, we are working on newer products (like base station antennas, CPE, UBR, etc) and enhancing our revenues with existing products from operators in India and internationally. Not to forget the big spending expected soon from BSNL on the 4G project.

At the same time, we have had some early success in getting orders from the defense sector. We are seeing many projects coming for telecom DAS (public safety and cellular) coverage requirements at new infrastructure builds and modernization. Many global technology companies are engaged with us for ‘manufacturing as service’. In summary, a lot is happening, and we are very hopeful about our growth story.

  • New facility at Noida: capacity, manufacturing capability, expected output, etc. – already covered above.
  • Talent acquisition to meet expansion requirements, customer needs, etc.

Over our 19 years of history, most of the tier-1 team has been with the company for >10 years. The open and transparent work culture at Frog Cellsat Ltd makes people here passionate about developing and delivering world-class products, solutions, and services for next-generation wireless and mobile broadband networks.

Frog Cellsat always welcomes people with a positive attitude who have a commitment to bring value to whatever we do. We believe the best investment a company can make is in its people. We regularly impart behavioral and skill enhancement training to our staff. What better asset to have than a well-trained employee with a positive attitude?

Similarly, we groom our key management team to become independent leaders who are fully empowered to make their own business decisions.

The results of our efforts show the fact that Frog Cellsat can boast of many awards for “Great Place to Work”.

Views on the industry: Outlook and challenges

Indian growth momentum and made-in-India initiatives offer tremendous opportunities. Produce in India for the world is a new mantra now!!!

Closer home, while we see operators making huge investments for 5G, at the same time 4G expansion is also happening. We are seeing a larger demand for indoor coverage along with new macro roll-outs. New infrastructure build and modernization of airports, railway stations, tunnels, roads, convention centers, etc have huge requirements for new age Optical DAS systems for security systems and shared commercial wireless coverage.

India is a land of hope and opportunities as we target to become a $5 trillion economy by the year 2025-26. All industries including digital initiatives, defense modernization, automotive, healthcare, etc present unparalleled avenues for newer possibilities.

As a country, while we focus on domestic production, it is very important that we develop our own technology and increase our investments in the backward supply chain for component localization.

In this euphoria of growth, it is important to keep an eye on future sustenance and momentum that can be ensured only when we have our own technology IPRs and low dependence on the external supply chain.

As the 6G vision and Industry 4.0 takes shape, we are sure India will be a dominant technology player in the world arena.
