Sewa Bank Leverages Tata Docomo Services to Bolster Security & Connectivity

Tata Docomo Business Services announces successful deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions for Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank – India’s first Micro-Finance Institution by poor self-employed women, in Ahmedabad. TDBS provided the bank with fully secure and highly reliable connectivity solutions, which helped the bank in strengthening its rural presence and fortifying its data security across all its branches in Gujarat.

Mahila Sewa Bank is one of its kind finance venture created by a small group of women, providing banking services to poor, illiterate, and self-employed women. The bank required an ICT solution which could help them to manage the increasing demand for reliable and secure connectivity, and seamless access to Core Banking Solutions (CBS), across all its branches. To meet Sewa Bank’s requirement, TDBS deployed a highly advanced connectivity solution over a fully secure and reliable hybrid Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) platform. The Bank was also provided with a Point-to-Point connectivity between its Data Centre and Disaster Recovery site for fast and smooth data replication.

Vinita Shah of Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank Ltd. said, “Our primary requirement was to offer secure and seamless banking services to our customers who are mostly uneducated and poor women spread across urban and rural areas of Gujarat. We are glad to partner with TDBS which has helped us with suitable ICT solutions at an affordable price. The solution from TDBS has been a great enabler in our endeavour to empower thousands of self-employed poor women.”

Commenting on the partnership with Sewa Bank, Sourabh Sharma, Regional Operation Head – West, Enterprise Business – Tata Teleservices Ltd said, “Sewa Bank is doing some commendable work by empowering women workers in the unorganized sector of Gujarat.  A major challenge faced by Sewa was in offering unhindered safe banking services to its customers across all branches. We provided Sewa Bank  with a highly advanced connectivity technology MPLS based Virtual Private Network (VPN), which is a fully meshed network to ensure fail-safe connectivity across all the branches. Today, the bank is running its operation successfully and efficiently, availing highly secure and seamless connectivity.”
