Atlassian’s ‘State of Teams 2025’ report highlights the role of AI in boosting productivity while addressing information management challenges

A staggering 92% of Indian professionals believe that AI will enhance both the speed and quality of their work, according to Atlassian’s newly released State of Teams 2025 report. The study, which surveyed 12,000 knowledge workers across six regions, including India, and 200 Fortune 500 executives, sheds light on the role of AI in team collaboration and productivity.

“AI is transforming teamwork, but information silos remain a challenge.”

However, despite AI’s growing adoption, the report found that 27% of the workweek is wasted searching for information, highlighting a critical challenge for businesses. In India, 72% of employees say they often have to schedule meetings or ask colleagues to find the information they need, and 61% report instances of teams unknowingly working on the same projects, leading to duplication of work.

“Team silos hinder collaboration, create inefficiencies, and lose opportunities. Without alignment, achieving objectives and adapting to market changes becomes difficult,” said Dr. Molly Sands, Head of Teamwork Lab, Atlassian“To remain competitive, companies must prioritize transparency and collaboration. AI can play a transformative role by surfacing key insights and ensuring teams have the right information at the right time.”

Key India Findings:

  • 87% believe AI helps them be better teammates.
  • 91% think AI could be better utilized for information discovery.
  • 51% say they could work faster if their teammates used AI more.
  • More than 17 hours per week is spent searching for information.
  • 70% agree that different functions within their company operate in silos.

To tackle these challenges, Atlassian recommends a three-pronged approach: aligning work to goals, planning and tracking projects collaboratively, and leveraging AI to streamline knowledge sharing.
