VMware at its annual vForum event in Mumbai showcased new products, services and partner updates from VMware designed to help customers transform their businesses and embrace a new model for IT.
This year’s vForum featured senior executives including Raghu Raghuram, executive vice president and general manager, SDDC; Sanjay Poonen, executive vice president and general manager, EUC; and Arun Parameswaran, managing director, VMware India. Their keynotes brought to life VMware’s software-defined approach to running and building applications, and showcased how VMware is enabling these applications to be delivered through business mobility with security from the device to the cloud.
At the ‘IT Excellence Awards for 2015’, that were presented on the eve of vForum, some of India’s leading CIOs and organizations were recognized for the steps they took in being brave and embracing a new model of IT. Over 30 awards were presented at the gala awards function at the JW Marriott Sahar, Mumbai.
VMware will be showcasing the content and messaging from vForum across the country at its VSS events in New Delhi (November 17), Bangalore (November 20) and Chennai (November 24) to share the knowledge, insights and tools with customers to help them fulfill their IT goals and inspire IT innovation within their organizations.
Indian enterprises increasingly adopting a software defined approach to IT
VMware is seeing growing adoption of VMware vCloud Suite® – its advanced cloud infrastructure solution – among enterprises in India. According to an IDC report commissioned by VMware, customers in India are expected to save an estimated US$4 billion between 2014 and 2020 by adopting a software-defined approach to managing IT . These figures reflect operational costs associated with power consumption, cooling, real estate and server administration.
Aligns Business Mobility offerings to a growing market
VMware’s Business Mobility offerings are directly linked to its foundation in cloud infrastructure, uniquely positioning the company to address a growing market for enterprise mobility solutions in India that IDC predicts will grow to US$2.3 billion by 2017.
The total addressable enterprise mobility solutions industry in Asia Pacific, which includes applications, devices, security, middleware, and professional services, is expected to grow from US$22B in 2015 to US$26.7B by 2017. The market in India is also slated to grow from US$1.7B in 2015 to US$2.3B in 2017 over the same period .
Earlier this year, VMware inaugurated its 438,000 square foot facility in South Bangalore –a total investment of US$120 million, representing the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation and evolving the business structure to serve customers locally and globally. VMware has over 3,500 customers in India.
