Former CTO of UNLIMITED and Wunderman Thompson – John Cunningham – brings a blend of creative and technology expertise to the digital transformation company as it strengthens its leadership team

Valtech, a global leader in digital services and business transformation, today announces the appointment of John Cunningham as its global CTO. As an experienced strategic leader in servicing world-leading brands on their digital transformation journey, John will support Valtech in its mission to transform businesses into digital power houses driven by innovation and agility. He joins the company from UNLIMITED, where he held the position of Group CTO.

In his role, John will work with Valtech’s executive team to ensure the company’s approach to its clients’ digital transformation remains first class in terms of meeting customer expectations and needs. From bolstering its technical partnerships and capabilities, to getting the best out of its people for better business outcomes, he’ll play a key part in the company’s growth.

Olivier Padiou, CEO of Valtech said: “With roots in creative direction and deep knowledge of transformative technologies as data platforms, John knows how to strike the right balance between creative and technology to solve our clients’ unique business challenges. He embodies our mission to humanise business transformation, ensuring the customer experience is central to any digitisation process. A mind like John’s is a huge advantage, not only for our own innovation and growth as we continue to expand our technology partners, support our talents, but also for our clients too as they futureproof their own business.”

John Cunningham, newly appointed global CTO at Valtech said: “Working at Valtech is an opportunity to stand on the shoulders of giants. With an impressive client roster and history in transforming the biggest brands across a vast array of industries, Valtech continues to lead the way in transformation consulting. I’m passionate in making tech an equal partner with customer experience and creativity – and Valtech champions this notion by having the right foundations and talent to bridge its capabilities. It’s all about working together to make big strategic bets on our clients’ business transformation goals, truly understanding the challenges our clients are facing, and identifying the blind spots to implement the right capabilities in a practical and tactical way, no matter the industry they operate in.

A visionary technology strategist, John has established a resounding reputation in the advertising, brand, and technology consulting landscape. At UNLIMITED as Group CTO, he led an international technology team, working closely with executive leadership on global business strategy at the intersection of CX, Data, Technology and Human Understanding for BMW, Mini, Toyota, Lexus, Amcor and Barilla. Prior to joining UNLIMITED, he was EMEA CTO at Wunderman Thompson – a group role working across the entire funnel on technical strategy, client engagement, and partner management – servicing clients including BAT, Shell, BT, Volkswagen, Unilever, GSK, and Dell. He was also global CTO at POSSIBLE before it was folded by WPP into Wunderman Thompson in 2017. During his time at POSSIBLE, he worked on accounts including AT&T, Honda Acura, Microsoft, HSBC, Aegon and Specsavers.

John will report to Olivier Padiou, Valtech’s CEO.
