Tenable Names Steve Vintz and Mark Thurmond as Permanent Co-CEOs Following Strong Interim Leadership

Tenable

Exposure management leader Tenable has announced the permanent appointment of Steve Vintz and Mark Thurmond as co-Chief Executive Officers, following a successful interim period marked by strategic growth and operational momentum. The decision comes after a comprehensive search initiated in the wake of former CEO Amit Yoran’s passing in January 2025.

“We’re honored to lead Tenable as co-CEOs and energized by the opportunity ahead.” — Steve Vintz & Mark Thurmond

Vintz, who has served as Tenable’s CFO since 2014, and Thurmond, COO since 2020, were praised by the Board of Directors for their complementary leadership, customer-first approach, and results-driven execution. The Board plans to appoint both leaders to its ranks following the annual shareholder meeting on May 14.

Under their interim leadership, Tenable saw expanded customer adoption of the Tenable One Exposure Management platform, increased traction in Tenable Cloud Security, and the strategic acquisition of Vulcan Cyber, further strengthening its position in the exposure management space.

“Mark and Steve have demonstrated exceptional leadership and alignment,” said Art Coviello, Chairman of the Tenable Board. “Their collaborative style and deep expertise make them the right leaders for Tenable’s next chapter.”

As co-CEOs, Vintz will oversee product, cybersecurity, corporate development, and core operations, while Thurmond will lead go-to-market teams including sales, marketing, and customer success. Vintz will continue to serve as CFO while a search is conducted for his successor.
