Telit IoT Platform to Power Swisscom IoT Services

Leading European communications provider licenses Telit’s turnkey IoT technology platform for Mobile Network Operators

Telit IoT Platform for mobile network operators – a carrier-ready Application Enablement Platform – has been licensed to Swisscom as the core embedded technology for the new IoT services Swisscom will be offering. The turnkey IoT Platform lets Switzerland’s leading communications provider offer end-to-end IoT services and rapid application development.

The Cloud-based Platform, powered by deviceWISE, is installed in the Swisscom data center, based in Switzerland. The comprehensive IoT Platform includes all the critical connection, management and integration functions for scalable and secure IoT deployments. Among the Platform’s unmatched differentiators are built-in capabilities for connectivity management, remote device management, edge intelligence, enterprise integration, end-to-end security, custom app creation, dash boarding and big data analytics.

The deviceWISE platform extends Swisscom’s service portfolio whereby Swisscom is adding Business Process Design, Predictive Analytics and ERP Integration centered on its customers’ connected ‘things’ under its System Integration Services. The IoT Platform supplements the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering for Swisscom customers. Swisscom recently launched its Application Cloud for developers. Swisscom aims to help its industrial customers develop game changing solutions that foster efficiency in daily processes, increase customer intimacy and enables business model innovation.

“By 2020, it is expected that over 50 billion objects, machines and devices will be connected to the Internet worldwide, which will enable entirely new business models,” said Sergio Chiandetti, Head of Business Process Solutions & Services at Swisscom. “With the new IoT platform we are prepared to accompany our customers into the digital future.”

“We are pleased that Swisscom has selected the Telit IoT Platform to power its IoT services business. Licensing our IoT Platform to mobile network operators is an integral part of our IoT services strategy and rapidly becoming a growth engine for Telit’s business,” said Fred Yentz, President and CEO of Telit IoT Platforms. “We are having tremendous traction with leading operators worldwide and Swisscom is among the most innovative operators to recognize early the value and convenience of licensing and integrating a proven IoT Application Enablement Platform to offer new IoT services and generate new revenues.”

Working with Telit and its ecosystem partners, operators and their customers benefit from instant access to certified hardware and software, integration services and support, tailored solutions and applications; and turnkey commercial deployments, as needed. Additionally, Telit is expected to ship over 150 million Cloud-ready IoT modules over the next five years, further expanding the number of devices that can be easily connected to any deviceWISE IoT platform around the world.
