SUSE Extends Its HA Capabilities to SAP HANA

Says SUSE one of first to bring open source high availability-based capabilities to SAP HANA, via SUSE Linux Enterprise

SUSE announced it is making available high availability (HA) capabilities for deployments of the SAP HANA platform via SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, the recommended and supported operating system for use with SAP HANA.

SUSE is one of the first to bring its open source high availability capabilities to SAP HANA, which can help customers save money as they create highly available SAP HANA-based solutions using their existing SUSE infrastructure announced the press release.

“Customers with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications can now easily deploy highly available SAP HANA-based systems using the built-in SUSE HA capabilities,” said Michael Miller, SUSE vice president of global alliances and marketing. “Both existing and new customers using SAP HANA in mission-critical and large-scale environments where the high availability absolutely matters will immediately benefit from these outstanding SUSE HA capabilities.”

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications includes components of SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension, the most complete open source clustering solution.

Using the high availability component of SUSE Linux Enterprise for SAP Applications, including the new resource agents, customers can automate their system replication of SAP HANA to optimize database availability, especially with the memory pre-loading capabilities of SAP HANA.

“The Fujitsu Power Appliance for SAP HANA supports high performance, ease of management, high availability and extreme scalability,” said Jens-Peter Seick, senior vice president of product management and development for Fujitsu. “Leveraging SUSE high availability capabilities for SAP HANA, Fujitsu and SUSE enable customers to integrate system replications of SAP HANA in their high availability solutions covering business-critical SAP-based systems and databases.”
