MongoDB expands leadership remit as Sachin Chawla relocates to Singapore to head growing ASEAN business
MongoDB has announced that Sachin Chawla will now oversee operations across both India and the ASEAN region. In his expanded role as Area Vice President, Chawla will relocate to Singapore to accelerate growth and deepen MongoDB’s customer engagements across the region.
With over two decades of experience in technology sales — including prior leadership roles at AWS and BMC Software — Chawla joined MongoDB in 2022 and has since led the India business through a phase of remarkable growth. Under his leadership, MongoDB India saw 70% headcount growth, launched key skilling initiatives that reached over 500,000 students, and onboarded marquee customers including Tata Digital, Zepto, Zomato, and Intellect AI.
“ASEAN and India each boast massive developer populations and dynamic business environments,” said Simon Eid, SVP of APAC at MongoDB. “Following the massive impact he had in India, I know Sachin Chawla is the ideal leader to deliver transformative results across the region.”
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in India,” Chawla said. “With AI redefining how businesses innovate, ASEAN is an exciting next chapter. These two markets, at this time, with a technology as impactful as MongoDB – it really is an incredible opportunity.”
The announcement follows MongoDB’s recent expansion of Atlas availability in Southeast Asia, with deployments now live in AWS regions across Malaysia and Thailand. The company also reported over 200% headcount growth in the region over the past two years.
