New cost-effective 8-bay business NAS with 1.7 GHz CPU and 4GB RAM option alongside the standard models with 8GB or 16GB RAM
QNAP Systems announced the TS-831X – a new cost-effective 8-bay business NAS with a quad-core 1.7 GHz CPU to provide users with enhanced system performance for daily business operations. Alongside the standard models with 8GB or 16GB RAM, there is also a model with 4GB RAM (TS-831X-4G) to provide an affordable option for budget-conscious users.

The new TS-831X uses an AnnapurnaLabs, an Amazon company Alpine AL-314 quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM® Cortex-A15 processor, and features 4GB/8GB/16GB DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16GB), hardware-accelerated encryption, and SSD caching. It also includes two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports for high-speed network deployment and a PCIe expansion slot for installing an additional 10GbE or 1GbE network adapter if needed. Container Station allows users to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) apps for additional business opportunities, and the VJBOD function allows for using unused space to expand the storage capacity of other QNAP NAS units. The 8-bay TS-831X can also meet growing storage demands by using QNAP 8-bay expansion enclosures to scale up to 24 drives.
