Progress Launches Web Application Firewall for MOVEit Cloud to Strengthen File Transfer Security

New WAF functionality ensures compliance with PCI DSS 4.0, protecting businesses from cyber threats

Progress has introduced a Web Application Firewall (WAF) for MOVEit Cloud, its managed file transfer (MFT) solution. This new functionality enhances security by blocking malicious web traffic and helps businesses comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) 4.0, which mandates WAF deployment for public-facing applications by March 31, 2025.

With cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, organisations need robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data. MOVEit Cloud’s WAF functionality automatically filters and monitors HTTPS traffic, mitigating risks from injection attacks, unauthorized file access, and other vulnerabilities. Built using OWASP-based industry standards, the firewall protects against the OWASP Top 10 threats and is backed by ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications.

Meeting Compliance and Enhancing Security

MOVEit Cloud is continuously updated to align with the latest regulatory and security standards, ensuring a proactive response to evolving compliance requirements. In addition to PCI DSS 4.0, MOVEit Cloud also meets HIPAA, HITECH, and HIPAA Omnibus regulations, making it a trusted solution for industries handling sensitive data.

Loren Jarrett, EVP & GM of Digital Experience at Progress, emphasized the importance of this new functionality: “The addition of a Web Application Firewall in MOVEit Cloud underscores our commitment to helping businesses protect sensitive data and maintain compliance in today’s evolving threat landscape. By layering WAF technology into MOVEit Cloud, we help our customers guard against cyber threats, meet regulatory demands, and achieve peace of mind knowing their managed file transfers are secure.”

Fully Managed Protection for IT Teams

Beyond compliance, MOVEit Cloud’s fully managed WAF solution saves IT teams time and resources by handling updates, testing, and scaling. The platform also provides multi-node scaling for high-performance traffic management, ensuring seamless operations during peak demand. With 24/7 monitoring, active alerts, and support from Progress security specialists, businesses can focus on their core operations without worrying about cybersecurity threats.

As data breaches and cyberattacks continue to rise, organisations must prioritise secure file transfer solutions. With the new WAF in MOVEit Cloud, Progress delivers a proactive security-first approach that helps businesses protect critical data, ensure compliance, and streamline operations.
