M2M Connectivity Enters into Industrial Bluetooth Deal with ELA Innovation

Deal focused on tracking sensors and beacons for AU industries including healthcare, transport and smart buildings

Australian IoT firm M2M Connectivity, a Sierra Wireless company, announced a distribution deal with one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of industrial wireless and Bluetooth sensors – ELA Innovation.

M2M Connectivity will act as the main distributor of ELA Innovation technologies in Australia and New Zealand, to supply advanced tracking sensors and beacons to industries including healthcare, transport and logistics, industry 4.0, construction and smart buildings. The focus will be on BLE, Wirepas and QUUPPA tags beacons and sensors for identifying, locating and measuring assets, people, and environmental conditions.

ELA Innovation, based in France, offers a wide range of tags, beacons and long-range sensors up to 500m in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wirepas Mesh, QUUPPA (AOA) and LORA technologies – with up to 20 years battery life.

“ELA Innovation has an enviable reputation for producing robust and reliable tracking tags, beacons and sensors,” says Daryl Chambers, Director at M2M Connectivity. “ELA’s technology presents us with a unique opportunity to work with local systems integrators and partners to not just supply the hardware, but to help create new tracking and monitoring networks which will bring greater safety and efficiency to a broad range of facilities and industries. Now a single gateway connected over ethernet, cellular or satellite can collect data from tens or hundreds of end point connected ELA products.“

“This partnership with ELA Innovation adds further value to our portfolio and perfectly aligns with our mission to makes wireless work in any environment,” adds Chambers.

ELA Innovation’s sales grew by 70% in 2021. Their industrial Bluetooth technology, which is used by companies such as Renault and France’s national railway company SNCF, offers significant advantages over other technologies including low energy use, high autonomy, and long battery life. ELA’s broad range of products suits many use cases including motion detection, passive infrared sensors (PIR), and temperature monitoring.

Willy Le Mercier, Sales Director of ELA Innovation, said: “Over the past 20 years, ELA Innovation has developed an increasingly wide range of sensors dedicated to industrial environments. This has enabled us to respond in a targeted and relevant manner to the very strong demand we have been experiencing in recent years in all IIOT markets.

“Despite the global situation of COVID-19 for almost two years, we have maintained and amplified this growth, particularly in the context of embedded telematics solutions and people / asset tracking solutions for indoor and outdoor environments.

“We now wish to increase our presence in new areas, in particular Australia and New Zealand. This new distribution partnership with M2M Connectivity seemed obvious to us, as we were convinced by the expertise and experience of their teams and the real complementarity of our products with the ranges they offer today. “We are looking forward to working with M2M Connectivity and strengthening our international reputation in advanced Bluetooth sensing and tracking technology,” adds Mr. Le Mercier.

M2M Connectivity’s partnership with ELA Innovation is its second distribution deal in the last 12 months. In March 2021, M2M Connectivity announced it will act as the master distributor of Peplink across Australia and New Zealand.
