KPIT Technologies announced the successful implementation of the new generation of enterprise software, SAP Business Suite SAP S/4HANA (Version 1610) for Isgec Hitachi Zosen Ltd Limited (IHZL), a global joint venture catering to the specialized and critical process equipment requirements of oil & gas, refineries, fertilizer, and petrochemical industries, to support its digital transformation program, Lakshya. The deployed solution leverages the benefits of digitalization to enable Isgec Hitachi Zosen with better control on project execution by providing clear visibility into the operations, strengthening procurement processes and augmenting inventory control.
KPIT’s strong partnership with SAP and long-standing experience in SAP implementations for the manufacturing industry were the key factors driving IHZL’s decision to partner with the company. The deployment of the real-time intelligence of SAP S/4HANA will assist the company to timely deliver quality mission-critical equipment—where the risks involved are high—and eliminate errors arising from manual procurement systems. Further, the solution gives the management team at IHZL complete insights into the execution of the projects along with advanced data analytics capability, resulting in informed decision-making and cost efficiency.
KPIT focused on the following aspects while implementing the solution:
- Designing inventory control management systems that accurately track availability of material for the company‘s made to order products, eliminating disadvantages of the legacy system that made monitoring difficult due to the duplicity of item codes.
- Optimizing supply chain by providing tighter control over the inventory—which contributes to about 60-70% of the production costs—through live tracking and valuation of the inventory available.
- Improving the speed of production by making the process of issuance of welding consumable faster by 50%, through the introduction of touch screen systems that allow workmen to place consumable issuance order instantly
- Improving the NDT (non-destructive testing) outcomes of fabrications by implementing a module that automatically monitors and ensures completion of all stages of the requisite tests for the project, as well as assists in the generation of automated reports of the NDTs concluded.
