Company implements Detect AI for real-time safety monitoring and operational efficiency

Hindustan Zinc Limited  has deployed Detect AI, an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered surveillance system, across its operations. This pioneering technology enhances workplace safety, operational efficiency, and compliance monitoring.

The AI-driven safety monitoring system integrates seamlessly with the company’s existing IoT (Internet of Things)-enabled surveillance infrastructure, reducing the need for manual intervention. Utilizing real-time image and video analytics, deep learning models, and edge computing, the system autonomously detects unsafe industrial practices, including non-compliance with protective equipment guidelines, unauthorized personnel access, and work-at-height protocols. Through predictive analytics and cloud-based AI inference engines, Detect AI categorizes safety risks and triggers automated alerts, generating data-driven insights to prevent incidents.

“The implementation of this technology positions us ahead of the industry curve, integrating innovative solutions for manufacturing excellence.”

Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited.

Hindustan Zinc has been at the forefront of leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), computer vision, drone technology, IoT, and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR). By integrating these technologies across its mining sites in Rajasthan—such as Rampura Agucha, Sindesar Khurd, Rajpura Dariba, Zawar, and Kayad—the company has improved operational efficiency by 20-30% and reduced manual intervention by nearly 50%.

“At Hindustan Zinc, we have embedded technological excellence and automation into our operations to power ahead on the path of sustainable and responsible growth,” said Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited. “The implementation of this technology positions us ahead of the industry curve, integrating innovative solutions for manufacturing excellence.”

Hindustan Zinc continues to drive digital transformation in the metals and mining sector with its first-of-its-kind digital collaboration center. This facility analyzes data from all business units, providing real-time insights for strategic decision-making. The company is also partnering with innovative startups to deploy emerging technologies for industrial diagnostics, equipment monitoring, and performance enhancement.
