- AI-Powered Adversary Testing: Instead of hiring a red team once a year, imagine having an AI-driven attacker that constantly looks for weaknesses in your systems. Think of it as continuous pressure-testing, 24/7.
- Smarter Identity and Access Decisions: The concept of Zero Trust—where no user or device is trusted by default—is expanding. AI could soon make real-time access decisions based on behavior, location, and even tone of communication – much more than just a username and password.
- New Kinds of Insider Risk: As AI assistants become more integrated into workflows, the data they see—and the questions we ask them—may be just as sensitive as what’s in our systems. We’ll need to protect those interactions just like any other critical asset.
Preparing for the AI Security Future
For security leaders looking to navigate this evolving landscape, I recommend:
- Start Building AI Literacy: Ensure your team understands both the capabilities and limitations of AI in security contexts. This doesn’t mean everyone needs to become a data scientist, but basic AI fluency will soon be as important as understanding networking was a decade ago.
