Dell Displays its Leadership

Dell Software registered double-digit revenue growth year-over-year

Dellannounced its solutions leadership across the categories of server, storage, software and networking. With a 100 % customer focus, widespread distribution and channel partner network , new GTM strategy have enabled the company to outpace competitors in all arenas of its commercial business.

Dell Solutions Tour is a five city solutions showcase for IT decision makers across verticals in Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Kolkata. The event addressed some of the pressing issues in the enterprise segment, trends for customers to watch out for and how customers can build ‘future-ready datacenters’.

Commenting on the event Ajay Kaul, Director & General Manager – North Geo, Dell India said: “We are growing fast as an integrated, end-to-end solutions company, deploying products & solutions from the PC to the Datacenters and providing customers optimized & scalable offerings. Customers are benefiting from this approach and the results are showing.”
Enterprise computing needs are dynamically changing, as business and technology leaders embrace strategic computing innovations to create novel opportunities and gain competitive advantage. In addition to this businesses are being asked to do more with less – financial constraints still exist and the pressures to remain innovative are ubiquitous. The ever-increasing demand for cloud computing, the exponential expansion of mobile use, the widespread adoption of big data techniques and the rise of software-defined infrastructures: All these factors drive IT decision makers to evaluate fresh approaches in the data center.

In line with customer needs in the enterprise IT space, Dell recently at the Dell World announced new products across its end-to-end range of products. This included FX2, a converged architecture designed to bridge the gap between traditional and new IT and Dell Storage PS4210 Series enterprise storage arrays that bring improved performance and advanced connectivity options for entry-level primary storage and critical workloads. Dell also announced worldwide availability of the Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances, which integrates compute, storage and hypervisor resources into a single offering.

Dell is a proven leader in all aspects of its enterprise product portfolio. Dell was awarded as the No. 1 storage supplier in the first half of 2014 based on total terabytes sold for internal and external storage, according to industry analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) data. In the Server space, Dell continued to display leadership in the x86 server market and maintained its No. 2 share position in the global x86 server market and retained the No. 1 share position in APJ as well, according to IDC data.2 Also, for the second straight quarter, Dell was the only major vendor to generate year-over-year growth in both rack and blade servers according to IDC data. In the networking space, Last year the company grew 3X the market globally (for data center and campus), adding more than 24,000 new customers.

Dell Software has also displayed leadership across its four focus areas of Information Management, Security, Data Protection and End to end software solutions. Dell Software registered double-digit revenue growth as the company continues to build out its global software business, with strength in security and information-management areas, including data analytics and enterprise application integration. Since the addition of software to the Dell PartnerDirect program a year ago, Dell Software’s channel-related revenue also experienced double-digit growth.

Dell’s leadership in these segments is a result of the renewed focus on channel and distribution that was announced earlier this year. Over the last year Dell announced tie-ups with national distributors such as Ingram Micro, Redington and Iris. This has expanded the strength of its reach to tier 2 and tier 3 locations across India. In addition to this Dell announced recently new programs and incentives to drive customer and partner value. These included the Dell Storage Accelerator, Windows Server 2003 Migration Campaign, doubling of Investments in Demo Equipment, Doubling of Lead Generation Investments and Delivering Industry-Best Financing Terms.
