DataStax introduces vector search to DataStax Enterprise (DSE), allowing enterprises to leverage generative AI within their own datacenters. This feature is now available in the on-premises database based on Apache Cassandra.
The availability of vector search for DSE follows the company’s recent announcement of the general availability of vector search for its marquee cloud database, Astra DB. A database that supports vector search can store data as “vector embeddings,” which is essential to delivering generative AI applications like those built on GPT-4. The availability of vector search in DSE enables developers to easily leverage Cassandra as a vector database for their large language model (LLM), AI assistant, and real-time generative AI projects without sending data outside their secure networks.
DataStax DSE also supports the most stringent enterprise-level requirements for managing sensitive data including PHI, PII, and support with PCI enablement. Customers across highly regulated industries like banking and financial services, healthcare, and other industries processing highly sensitive data can utilize DSE to power their AI initiatives with best-in-class performance that leverages the speed and limitless scale of Cassandra.
