New patent cements the company’s lead in AI-driven data security, protecting enterprises from over-permissioned user risks

Concentric AI, a leading innovator in AI-powered data security solutions, today announced the award of its third patent in less than a month, further strengthening its intellectual property portfolio and industry leadership. The newly granted patent, titled “Methods and Systems for Identifying Anomalous Users Exhibiting Overreaching Access Permissions to Data Objects,” addresses a growing enterprise challenge: identifying and remediating permission creep.

This patent reinforces Concentric AI’s Semantic Intelligence™ platform, which uses advanced AI to understand the context and semantics of data across organizations. With this capability, it autonomously identifies users with inappropriate or excessive access to sensitive data—often a result of evolving roles, projects, and forgotten permissions over time.

The most recent of four important patents awarded to Concentric AI directly tackles one of the most vexing data security challenges: permission creep,” said Karthik Krishnan, Founder and CEO of Concentric AI. “Our technology gives enterprises a clear, intelligent path to fix over-permissioning without manual rules or guesswork.”

“Enterprises need more than visibility—they need intelligence to prevent data from slipping through the cracks.”

As enterprises scale and data volumes explode into the hundreds of millions of documents, traditional permission auditing becomes unmanageable. Concentric AI’s platform automatically detects anomalous access patterns and proactively mitigates data exposure risks—enabling organizations to uphold zero trust and least privilege models.

This latest patent builds on two recently granted patents focused on semantic-based document clustering and sensitive data management. Together, they position Concentric AI as the go-to solution for enterprises seeking context-aware, automated data governance.

“Understanding document semantics to spot permission anomalies gives organizations the control they need to keep sensitive data safe,” Krishnan added.

Unlike legacy tools, Concentric AI identifies not only obvious sensitive data types like PII, PCI, and PHI, but also nuanced and business-critical assets such as intellectual property. It then tags and protects these assets based on their actual content—not just file names or locations—ensuring comprehensive coverage across both cloud and on-prem environments.

As security threats grow more complex and access risks evolve invisibly, Concentric AI’s patent-protected Semantic Intelligence approach represents a new frontier in intelligent data security.
