New Facility Strengthens Japan’s Digital Infrastructure and Cloud Services
Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has officially launched its latest hyperscale data centre, Inzai 4, in Tokyo, Japan. This marks the company’s fourth facility in the Inzai region and the second developed under its joint venture with Fidelity Investments and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The expansion reflects Colt DCS’ commitment to supporting Japan’s rapidly growing digital economy and the broader Asia-Pacific cloud services market.
“The continued growth in digital services has created strong demand for hyperscale data centres in Japan. Inzai 4 is a testament to our commitment to meeting this demand and supporting the digital economy in the Asia-Pacific region.”
— Niclas Sanfridsson, CEO at Colt DCS
The first phase of Inzai 4 is now operational with 4.8MW of capacity, and once fully built, the site will deliver a total of 20MW. This will bring Colt DCS’ total capacity in Inzai to 70MW. Notably, the entire Inzai 4 facility is pre-let, demonstrating strong demand for the company’s hyperscale solutions.
Developed under Colt DCS’ Global Reference Design (GRD) guidelines, the site incorporates sustainability-focused innovations, including cooling systems with low Global Warming Potential (GWP) and reduced water waste. Additionally, the facility is built with minimal use of steel and concrete to lower its embodied carbon footprint.
Colt DCS was the first provider to establish a hyperscale data centre in Inzai in 2011 and continues to expand in the region. Plans for Inzai 5 are already in motion, reinforcing the area’s strategic importance due to its stable bedrock, dense fibre connectivity, and strong local government support.
Sanfridsson added, “We are proud to contribute to the growth of the local community and remain a trusted partner for our customers worldwide.”
