Cloudflare’s new automated phishing identification system and expanded email security offerings aim to protect political campaigns.

Cloudflare has announced significant updates to its phishing capabilities, now offering free email security for political parties and campaigns through its Cloudflare for Campaigns initiative.

Phishing remains a major cybersecurity threat, serving as the initial vector for 9 out of every 10 cyber attacks. The methods and tactics used in phishing attacks have become increasingly sophisticated, often bypassing traditional detection rules and using AI to craft personalized and targeted messages at scale. In response to these evolving threats, Cloudflare has overhauled its approach to phishing defense.

In 2024, Cloudflare transitioned from a manual, human review and intervention approach to an automated phishing identification system. This new system proved highly effective, resolving nearly 80% of phishing reports in the second half of 2024. The automation not only improved efficiency but also enhanced the accuracy of threat detection, providing a robust defense against phishing attacks.

“Cloudflare is committed to providing robust security solutions that adapt to the evolving threat landscape,” said Jay Tuseth, Vice President and General Manager for APJ at Cloudflare.

Building on this success, Cloudflare is expanding its product suite under Cloudflare for Campaigns to include Email Security. This new offering aims to secure email systems that are essential to safeguarding the integrity and success of political campaigns. By providing free email security, Cloudflare is helping political parties and campaigns protect themselves against phishing attacks and other email-based threats.

“Cloudflare is committed to providing robust security solutions that adapt to the evolving threat landscape,” said Jay Tuseth, Vice President and General Manager for APJ at Cloudflare. “Our new automated phishing identification system and expanded email security offerings are designed to meet the needs of political campaigns, ensuring they can operate securely and effectively.”

Cloudflare’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity for political campaigns comes at a critical time. As phishing incidents continue to rise, the need for robust email security solutions has never been greater. The company’s new automated phishing identification system and expanded email security offerings are designed to meet this need, providing comprehensive protection for digital businesses and political campaigns alike.
