Host the CII Energy Efficiency Summit 2016; National Award for Excellence in Energy Management was given to energy efficient companies across industries
Speaking at the 15th edition of “CII Energy Efficiency Summit”, Mr Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India today highlighted the multiple benefits of investing in energy efficient interventions. Organisations that incorporated the best practices in energy management were also felicitated during the conference.
“Energy Efficiency will unlock hidden energy savings in manufacturing sector” –
Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman
President
Danfoss India
Given the increased thrust on manufacturing and the emphasis on Make in India, energy consumption is bound to amplify in the coming years, adding to the burden of an already stretched energy ecosystem. According to Energy Statistics 2015, released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, in 2013-14, industrial sector used 52.72% of the total final energy consumption. With the industrial sector accounting for more than half the energy consumption, it is vital for stakeholders to explore technologies and solutions that will help manufacturers deliver more with less.
The need of the hour is a regulation/policy from the government that calls for mandatory usage of energy saving drives that have the capacity to increase motor efficiency, directly impacting process efficiency and thus productivity. While it is important for the government to strengthen its policy framework, as key drivers of the economy, it becomes increasingly important for manufacturers, industrialists and private organizations to innovate implement and showcase the many benefits of using interventions like variable frequency drives, valves, compressors, sensors and other energy saving interventions that have the potential to save energy.
Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India said, “Increased emphasis on manufacturing coupled with booming infrastructure growth will lead to increasing energy demand with ramifications on energy intensity, an important measure of the energy efficiency of a nation’s economy. One of the easiest methods to make industries more efficient and help them optimize productivity with available resources is to equip them with necessary interventions like variable frequency drives that will improve process efficiency, reduce downtime and generate significant energy savings. Quality, innovation and reliability should form the building blocks of our technologies and help push the boundaries of what is possible and engineer the dreams of tomorrow, today.”
The CII Energy Efficiency Summit that was held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) Hyderabad. The event is a platform to facilitate industries to improve energy efficiency on a continuous basis and help them in achieving the target set as part of Perform Achieve Trade (PAT) under the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency.
Numerous companies participated in this industry event from which the most energy efficient companies won awards across categories and sectors like general, automobile sector, metals sector, cement sector, power sector and paper and sugar sector. Awardees were selected based on their initiatives in energy management and innovative products or services that can demonstrably offer significant energy saving benefits.
