Avaya Awards Winners of Smart Project Competition

Engineering students from Maharashtra Institute of Technology won top honors at Avaya’s Smart Project Competition as part of its University Outreach Program

Proving their mettle, engineering students at Maharashtra Institute of Technology College in Pune have been awarded top honors at Avaya’s Smart Project Competition. Avaya held the competition as a part of its University Outreach Program, a series of initiatives with leading educational institutes in Pune, designed to bridge the skills gap and increase collaboration amongst students and industry. While Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) won the top spot, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) was the 1st runners-up followed by College of Engineering (CoE) as 2nd runners-up.

As per the release, with this program Avaya is taking another step forward in making the Indian skill force aligned with the changing industrial requirements and imparting knowledge on the latest technological trends in the industry. The program includes exchange of ideas on the emerging technologies and telecommunication industry between the students and industry. A total of 44 projects were submitted by four engineering colleges out of which four projects were chosen. The projects were judged across categories of innovation, presentation, clarity of thoughts, technical competency and project completeness

India is driving digital transformation efforts to boost economic growth and provide access to digital services, knowledge and information for all citizens. Avaya is working with CoE, MIT, VIT and Cummins colleges in Pune – to help develop training in key technologies and help deliver the skilled workforce India requires. The Avaya University Outreach Program consists of four key elements – Avaya curriculum, Technology exchange program for Faculty, Avaya Champs and Technology enablement for students, the release said.

Vijay Mhaskar, Senior Director R&D at Avaya India said, “It fills us with immense pride to see the work of these students receive such accolades, as a part of our Smart Project Competition. It not only demonstrates their zeal to learn but their efforts which speak volumes about their willingness to contribute to India’s digital transformation.”
