Armis urges organisations to shift from reactive to proactive cybersecurity strategies as AI accelerates nation-state and non-state threats
“AI is no longer just a tool—it’s a weapon reshaping the cyber battlefield.”
– Nadir Izrael, CTO & Co-Founder, Armis
Armis, a leading cyber exposure management and security company, is warning that artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming cyberwarfare, enabling both nation-states and smaller threat actors to launch more targeted and devastating attacks. The company’s latest report, Warfare Without Borders: AI’s Role in The New Age of Cyberwarfare, highlights an urgent need for organisations to rethink their cybersecurity strategies.
According to the report, 87% of IT decision-makers are now concerned about the impact of cyberwarfare on their organisations—a 34% increase from last year. Additionally, 64% agree that AI is shifting the geopolitical balance by allowing smaller players to become near-peer cyber threats.
Nearly three-quarters (73%) fear that nation-state actors are already using AI to launch more sophisticated attacks, while 58% admit their organisations still respond reactively—only after threats have occurred. Although 81% aim to adopt a more proactive stance, half say they lack the internal expertise to implement AI-driven cybersecurity tools effectively.
Armis warns that this preparedness gap leaves critical infrastructure vulnerable. The report also reveals that 85% of IT leaders believe offensive techniques regularly bypass their current security tools, and only one-third feel their organisation is ready to respond to cyberwarfare.
With growing fears that AI could trigger full-scale cyber conflicts, Armis calls on organisations to close the gap between intention and preparation—and embrace proactive, AI-powered defense.
