India leads global peers in revenue gains, data integrity and focus on AI-driven decision-making
India is surging ahead in the global AI race, with 70% of organisations reporting tangible business benefits from AI readiness efforts, according to a new report by Iron Mountain and FT Longitude titled “Responsibly Sourced Data: AI’s Crucial Ingredient.”
The study surveyed 500 large organisations worldwide and revealed that Indian enterprises recorded an average revenue growth of $4.1 billion over the past year as a direct result of robust information management strategies—more than double the global average of $1.9 billion.
“Data integrity, transparency and trust are more critical than ever,” said Varun Gupta, Head of Digital Business India, Iron Mountain. “We’re helping customers unlock the true power of AI by getting their information AI-ready through platforms like Iron Mountain InSight® DXP.”

Key India highlights from the report include:
- 100% of Indian organisations saw revenue growth from information management (vs. 89% globally).
- India leads the global average by 24 percentage points in focus on AI-ready data.
- 45% of Indian firms cited AI-powered decision-making and agility as their top priority—surpassing the U.S. (39%), Germany (32%) and Brazil (40%).
- 43% identified cybersecurity and compliance risks as their top concern—highest among all markets.
The report also showed that India is ahead in deploying Master Data Management (MDM) systems, with 43% adoption, and maintains a strong focus on data transparency and ethical use in AI applications. Yet, challenges remain—17% of Indian organisations lack comprehensive data protection systems, and skills gaps continue to threaten AI-readiness in the next three years.
