Huawei Unveils Largest Petabit Router

Based on a programmable chipset and elastic distributed operation system, the NE9000 can fully support SDN/NFV.

Huawei releases the industry’s largest petabit core router NE9000. The new product supports the industry’s first 2T router line card and leading SDN/NFV technology meets the requirement of the next generation DC-centric network. NE9000 supports the maximum capacity of 8 Tbit/s per slot. The cluster system capacity scales to 8 Pbit/s, resulting in a download speed of 12,000 4K videos per second. The industry’s 2T line card can provide high port density of 100GE with wire speed. It can help operators to simplify the network, reduce the network delay, and bring an inspiring experience to users.

Based on a programmable chipset and elastic distributed operation system, the NE9000 can fully support SDN/NFV and enable network capability. Opening network capability, through virtualized, automated, and intellectualized technologies, it can flexibly adjust the network routing, quickly adapt to the dynamic variation of DC backbone traffic and effectively improve network resources utilization. It will optimize OAM efficiency and build an open, smart, and efficient next generation DC-centric backbone network.

“The Huawei NE9000, the industry’s largest petabit core router platform can accelerate the innovation for high-end router technologies and network architecture, meeting operator demands for next generation DC-centric networks. Delivering cloud and video services, Huawei hopes to help operators to provide an intelligent and efficient network, which bring subscribers an inspiring experience.” said Gai Gang, President, Router and Carrier Ethernet Product Line, Huawei.
